No Mow May

Join No Mow May

Take action for nature by doing nothing at all! Does this sound good? It does to us, as well as to the bees, butterflies and local wildlife.

Leave your lawn mowers in the shed throughout May and see the beauty of wild flowers unfold before your eyes. We are supporting Plantlife's #NoMowMay campaign and would love to see what benefits you and your pollinators receive this month.

There are so many benefits to taking part

Increase the quality of your soil, the health of your plants & reduce pests

Allow your pollinators to flourish and you’ll see new flowers pop up

Help out bees, beetles, butterflies, moths, wasps, flies and more

Provide more food and shelter for bats, birds, hedgehogs and many more

Wildlife paradise

It's easy to take part

Your actions all add up and play a hugely important role in the climate and ecological emergency. The total area of gardens in the UK is greater than the total area of reserves. Changing the way we look after our gardens collectively makes a difference.

No Mow May in your local community

Your local area also benefits hugely from local authorities not cutting grass verges, park edges and open spaces too often. Most councils are committed to improving wildlife habitats - keep an eye out near where you live to make sure this keeps happening.

North Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Bristol City Council and Bath & North East Somerset Council have committed to reducing some mowing schedules to allow for wildlife habitat and biodiversity protection.

We are supporting No Mow May by only cutting our key routes and the commitments we have with parishes. We have identified some specific areas where we won’t be cutting anything for the whole of May. We have to continue cutting grass on most of our parks and open spaces to make them accessible and safe for people to use, but we’ll put signs up in the areas we’re leaving for No Mow May
