About us

About us

Avon Wildlife Trust is the largest local charity working to protect wildlife and inspire people in the West of England. We work across the old county of Avon and cover the four local authority areas of Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset.

Our mission is to safeguard Avon’s cherished green and blue spaces and to promote the value of wildlife to our diverse population. We manage almost 800 hectares of prime habitat and strategically selected sites ranging from urban parks to ancient bluebell woods, rare wildflower meadows, peatlands, farmland, and our urban growing hub and wildflower nursery.  Most of our nature reserves have public access and are free to explore.

We work with landowners in the countryside across our region to reverse the decline in wildlife by creating connected living landscapes.

Our Team Wilder movement provides inspiration and support for communities, individuals, and young people to take action for nature in their local area.

We are supported by more than 17,000 members and offer volunteering opportunities to more than 500 people who share their expertise and time to help us do more for nature.

Our outdoor learning experiences bring children and educators closer to nature, to inspire a long-lasting connection with our natural world.

A national movement

We are part of a wider network of 46 Wildlife Trusts across the UK and work with many partners to protect our natural environment and support an abundance of wildlife in towns, cities and countryside.
