Leave a wilder Avon for future generations

Leave a wilder Avon for future generations

Remember a Charity Week, 5 – 11 September 2026

What kind of natural world do you want future generations in Avon to inherit? Many of us have memories rooted in local landscapes: birdsong on a morning walk, wildflowers along a favourite path, or the quiet magic of seeing wildlife close to home. Avon Wildlife Trust wants these places and the species that depend on them to thrive for years to come.

During Remember a Charity Week, Avon Wildlife Trust is showing how gifts in wills help protect local wildlife, power long-term conservation work and create a wilder future for generations to come.

Nature is not simply a ‘nice to have’. It supports our wellbeing, strengthens communities and helps us build a more climate-resilient future. When we help nature recover, we create healthier places for both wildlife and people. A gift in your will can turn your hopes for a nature-rich future into lasting action.

I took the decision to leave a legacy to Avon Wildlife Trust in the knowledge of the real value of such gifts. Having been a trustee of Avon Wildlife Trust, I know first-hand how legacies make all the difference.

Your gift can help protect the wildlife you love for years to come.

Across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, gifts in wills are already helping us care for the wild places people love. They support ambitious work such as the transformation of Ebdon Farm to create wetland for wading birds; initiatives to protect our peatland, reducing flood risk and preserving precious habitat; our work with local farmers, landowners and communities learning to live alongside wild beavers; and our Wildlife Champions programme, supporting and developing local changemakers taking action for nature where they live. These initiatives give nature space to recover, help vulnerable species adapt to climate change and create richer, more resilient landscapes for the future.

Making a will protects the people you care about, and it can also leave a powerful gift for nature. Every gift helps Avon Wildlife Trust acquire and manage nature reserves, protect endangered species and inspire children to value the natural world. By leaving a gift in your will, you can stand at the heart of the wilder future we are working to create.

Through our partnership with Octopus Legacy, Avon Wildlife Trust will cover the cost of your will up to £150. You can write or update a simple will for free* or get a will with trust at a discounted rate. Visit avonwildlifetrust.org.uk/leave-legacy to find out more.
