Youth Rangers

Currently, we do not currently have space in our Youth Rangers programme. We hope to have spaces opening up in the future and we will advertise when they become available.

Our Youth Rangers group is specifically aimed at people aged 14 – 18. The sessions are a way to meet other young people who love nature and develop practical and transferrable skills in a safe, fun environment. We focus on habitat and land management at the urban nature reserve, Grow Wilder. Tasks often include bramble clearance, path maintenance, pruning, wood chipping, weeding and planting.

FAQs

Why should I volunteer?

  • Learn new skills and meet new people
  • Understand more about your local wildlife and the habitats they need
  • Feel connected to nature and improve your wellbeing
  • Play your part in protecting the environment

How much time do I need to commit?

Spaces are limited in the group so we ask members to try and come as often as they can. If a member does not attend 3 months in a row without contact, we may offer your place to someone else.

Can I do Youth Rangers for my Duke of Edinburgh Award?

Yes, you can use Youth Rangers for the volunteering aspect of your Duke of Edinburgh Award. Although we do still ask that you have an interest and passion for nature and wildlife.

What experience do I need?

None! Ideally have an interest in nature and wildlife and the willingness to work in all weathers.
