About the event

Did you know there are 24 species of bumblebee in the UK and 6 of these are cuckoo bumblebees? 

On this course you will learn how to identify the common species, how to tell if a bumblebee is a queen, worker or male, and how you can help them in your garden, while discovering their habitat requirements, life cycle, feeding preferences, how they buzz, pollinate, and which ones sting!

Tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival

1-2pm Talk and specimens

2-4 pm in the field, catching, watching, and ID

4-5 pm optional extra time with Wildlife Trust staff and vols if weather permits, include hoverfly handling
