Filming at our nature reserves

Requesting to film at an Avon Wildlife Trust nature reserve

We receive many requests each year to record and film at our nature reserves. Our locations offer an inspiring backdrop for film, TV, documentaries, photo shoots, and podcasts.

Each request is carefully considered on a case-by-case basis. We seek to balance opportunities for connecting people with nature and sharing our amazing locations, while protecting ecologically sensitive sites and taking into account the staff time that may be involved.

Please note the following when submitting a filming request,

We take a very cautious approach to filming requests on designated sites e.g. Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The operating of drones is restricted on some of our sites.

We have locations with restricted access, such as those with difficult terrain, sensitive species, or with no public footpaths, and we may decline a request to ensure safety for all involved.

We are unable to pause our work to accommodate filming.

Location fees

A request to film on one of our nature reserves or other land managed by Avon Wildlife Trust attracts a location fee.

Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis based on the impact of the filming to the location and its operations, and the potential benefits to the Trust for participating in the filming.

Significant staff involvement would attract an additional fee, but this would be agreed in advance.
