Double your donation online from 22 – 29 April

We’re excited to be participating in the Big Give’s match funded Earth Raise campaign this spring! If you donate online between midday 22nd and midday 29th April, your gift will be matched up to the first £20,000.

The twin threats of the climate and ecological emergencies are having a huge impact on both people and wildlife.

The internationally important habitats of the Seven Estuary, where waders forage and roost, are feeling the squeeze as sea levels rise. Also, the degradation of landscapes across the North Somerset Levels and Moors leaves species isolated and vulnerable to extreme weather events.

At the same time, people’s connection with nature is at an all-time low, and yet we know that spending time in nature is crucial for our mental health.

Restoring wetland habitat at Ebdon Farm could give nature the chance it needs to lead the way towards a climate resilient and nature-connected future for our region – and for that, we need you!

Donate today and together we can double our impact – from providing climate resilient high tide roosts for coastal birds to creating a flourishing wild space where people can nurture their connection to nature.

Ebdon Farm: The wildling approach to climate adaptation

By letting nature take the lead, we can create a dynamic, wildlife-rich landscape that can adapt to climate challenges.

As part of our ambitious plans to create a new climate-adaptive nature reserve at Ebdon Farm in North Somerset, we aim to restore 14 hectares of precious coastal and floodplain grazing marsh so that it once again holds nature-abundant scrapes, pond, ditches and wet woodlands where vulnerable species can thrive.

Double your donation to restore vibrant wetland and grassland habitats at Ebdon Farm that could provide a crucial roost where red list species like dunlin, whimbrel and ringed plover can retreat during storms and high tides. Your gift could create a thriving steppingstone for species moving between the Severn Estuary and the Mendip Hills, making populations isolated by habitat degradation more able to adapt to climate pressures.

  • £25 becomes £50: This could help buy the tools we need to create vital high tide roosts for vulnerable coastal bird populations.
  • £50 becomes £100: This could help create a community area where local people can enjoy the wildlife that chooses to make its home at Ebdon Farm.
  • £100 becomes £200: This could help boost biodiversity through landscape-scale work such as reedbed creation.

Dunlin (C) Peter Cairns/2020 VISION

Despite its importance for wildlife, the North Somerset Levels and Moors lack high-quality, easy-to-access nature reserves.

At Avon Wildlife Trust, we aim to change this. Our long-term vision for Ebdon Farm is to create an accessible, wildlife-abundant site where nature thrives at the heart of the community – and by doubling your donation today, you can help us take our first steps towards making this vision a reality!

Your gift could have twice the impact this spring. Donate online and create a thriving future for vulnerable species and local communities, by creating wilder wetland habitat at Ebdon Farm.
