Team Wilder Ecological Advisory Service terms and conditions

Please read the Team Wilder Ecological Advisory Service rules carefully. By accepting this advice, you are confirming that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.

There is a significant potential to help wildlife flourish in our region and create nature-rich neighbourhoods for all to enjoy.

Through TWEAS, Esther Frizell-Armitage, the Team Wilder Community Ecologist, will offer support to individuals and communities in Bristol, Bath and Northeast Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset who want to take action for nature. Residents will be able to access free professional advice to support the creation and management of small-scale wildlife habitats and/or habitat features within communities, land/small holdings or gardens.

TWEAS will run from April 2023 until, at least, March 2025

To access TWEAS, submit your request using this form, where you will be asked to answer a few questions about the support needed and choose a time slot for a video call with the Team Wilder Community Ecologist. Photos taken within the last 12 months must also be submitted with your request.

Each community or individual is entitled to one video call and site visit (If required) and one follow-up video call or site visit six months after the advice has been given.

Your allocated video call will provide, up to 30-minutes with the Team Wilder Community Ecologist over Microsoft Teams or WhatsApp to help answer your submitted enquiry. During the call the ecologist will assess whether a site visit is required. If so, a convenient date will be scheduled during the video call. The site visit will take an hour.

Your consultation will be followed up with a report to cover what was discussed and outline any recommendation/advice given. Information about other opportunities (e.g., training, funding) will also be provided. A follow-up appointment may be offered at a later date, pending availability, to record and track progress against the advice given.

Online workshops will run monthly to help answer re-occurring topics or queries. Each workshop will include a Q&A, providing opportunities for others to share their journey, experiences and successes. All workshops will be recorded and shared on our website, with free access for all.

With permission, case studies will be developed about new and improved habitats created, with step-by-step guides to inspire others to take action for wildlife. The project will also be uploaded to the Team Wilder Community Map so that everyone can see what you are doing for nature and for you to be updated on Team Wilder news and events.

Please note that TWEAS has been set up to support community-led action and individuals in taking action for nature. It is not to be used for businesses or any commercial activities nor for planning proposals.

TWEAS should only be taken as advice. It is the landholder/community group’s responsibility to ensure that all required consents are obtained.

If you are not the owner of the land, it is important that you have the authority to submit a query on the owner’s behalf.

TWEAS is open to all residents of the UK mainland in Avon.

The decision of the Avon Wildlife Trust is final.
