Youth Event: Bird-Ringing Demonstration
Event details
About the event
Have you ever wanted to find out more about bird ringing and the process of collecting scientific data from birds across the world? Come along to Grow Wilder for this public ringing demonstration led by BTO qualified ringers.
In this bird ringing demonstration, you will have a chance to see birds up close and be shown how birds are aged, measured and weighed. We will also have a chance to talk about their habitat, how to create green spaces for our feathered friends and the epic migration many of them go through. It’s a great opportunity to have a fascinating close-up wildlife encounter and learn more about the importance of scientific data in conservation.
This event is part of our Youth Programme so we ask anyone attending to be between 14-25 years old. Anyone under 18 must have parental consent to attend.
Parents are are welcome to accompany young people and remain on site, but we ask that only young people attend the session, as there is limited capacity. Please only book tickets for the young people attending the session, to make sure as many people as possible can join us.
This event will take place at Grow Wilder and is suitable for young people from any level of knowledge or experience!
*All birds pictured in event images were handled by licensed BTO ringers
