Youth Event: BioBlitz at Westbury Wildlife Park
About the event
Join us at Westbury Wildlife Park, an important wildlife corridor that is being protected for nature. We'll be helping Adam, their ecologist, to carry out monitoring to identify the wildlife that uses the space. February is a great time for slow worms, so we'll check the reptile mats that Adam and volunteers have laid out to encourage basking and see how many we can find. Then we'll carry out a survey for breeding birds, trying to find evidence of nesting sites.
This will be an active session with lots of walking around over uneven ground, and will take place no matter the weather - so dress warm and waterproof. Layers, coats and wellies or sturdy walking boots are advised.
Westbury Wildlife Park can be found at Trym Rd, Bristol BS9 3ET. It is easily accessible via bus using routes 1, 2 or 2a. It is about a 10-minute walk from the Henbury Road, Southfield Road and Lake Road stops served by these routes.
This event is part of our Youth Programme and aimed at anyone between 14 and 25 but parents and siblings are also welcome to attend!
This event will take place at Westbury Wildlife Park and is suitable for young people from any level of knowledge or experience! Come along and say hello, meet new people and learn a new skill.
