Growing Detectives

Investigate the wonderful world of growing plants: how do they grow, what do they need to survive and how do they reproduce? Explore animals and plants in their habitats in Feed Bristol's vegetable garden, meadow and woodland.


Teddy Bears' Picnic

  • Location: Folly Farm Centre, BS39 4DW

  • Level: Foundation and Key Stage 1

Take part in a sensory earth walk, discover what all animals need to survive and follow the missing teddies into the woods for a picnic. During the autumn months, you'll also learn how Folly's woodland creatures prepare for and survive through winter.


Hungry Caterpillar

Follow a caterpillar trail into the woods and discover the part of the life cycle before they transform into a butterfly. Later play a fun butterfly feeding game and get creative by making a beautiful butterfly collage from natural finds.

Discover healthy habitats for people and other creatures by growing food in a wildlife-friendly way. Compare the vegetable patch with the hedgerow and woodland around. Learn about animals and plants in their habitats in our vegetable garden, meadow and woodland.

 


Miniature World

Follow a trail of chance into the woods to see what can help or hinder minibeasts in our garden. Discover the real importance of minibeasts in the world and find out which ones live in the woodland and what they need to survive. Later on, delve beneath the waters of the pond to see which minibeasts lurk there!


Bee Sensible

Use all your senses to explore plants and wildlife in our nature-friendly food growing project Learn about scientific method and learn how different animals explore their environment using senses. Review and compare habitats at Feed Bristol. 


Creativity and Sensory Day

Immerse yourself in nature at Folly Farm through a wide range of sensory games in the woodland. Then get creative! Activities may include making a collage from natural finds, creating a creature from clay, or whipping up a 'smelly cocktail'! This can day be tailored to you.
