Invitation to become a Trustee of Avon Wildlife Trust (Unpaid Position)

Custom Join Block

Salary: N/A

Closing date: Monday 23rd July 2018

Location: Bristol

We want to build a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the membership and communities that we serve. So if you are over 18, and would like to use your skills and experience at Board level to help us help wildlife, then we would love to hear from you.

Avon Wildlife Trust is a charity working to protect and restore wildlife in the West of England. We want to enable nature to recover on a grand scale, with more abundant wildlife in our cities and countryside. We work with schools and communities, landowners and volunteers, people of all ages and backgrounds - to develop wildlife-rich places and wildlife-rich lives. We create, connect and care for places rich in wildlife, champion the value of nature, and inspire people and communities to care for wildlife. The Trust has over 17,500 members, manages 32 nature reserves and educates 10,000 children a year.

The only requirements for applicants are enthusiasm and commitment to work with a team of others for the benefit of the Trust and its objectives. To help us develop a Board with diverse experiences and skill sets we would particularly welcome:

• people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities within the region, and leaders from deprived communities – you share our vision of nature-rich places that benefit everyone and would be willing to work with us to help make this a reality,
• fundraising expertise – you have significant experience of managing charity fundraising, know how to plan and monitor fundraising activity and would be willing to help mentor staff,
• specialist knowledge of land management - you have high-level experience of managing land such as estates, nature reserves or parks to maximise their benefits for people and wildlife;
• expertise in health and wellbeing – you have a background in the health sector and a network of connections that will help to develop our work on social prescribing and green commissioning.

As a member of our Board of Trustees you will be part of the strategic leadership of the Trust, helping us achieve our vision of restoring abundant wildlife and ensuring that the Trust fulfils its charitable purpose, mission and values.
