About the event

2020 is a significant year for Troopers Hill as it marks 25 years since it was declared as a Local Nature Reserve. Rob will tell us about the Hill's unique heathland and acid grassland habitats and the invertebrates that live there, which include many species of mining bees. Rob will also talk about the history of the site and the Crews Hole area, particularly the industries that have reshaped the Hill over the years and will show us photographs illustrating how the appearance of the hill has changed over the last 60 years. Rob will also discuss the projects that Friends of Troopers Hill have carried out since they were formed in 2003 to help protect the Hill and inform local residents of its importance for wildlife.
