The perfect mix of wildlife and creativity! Children will explore the 250-acre Folly Farm nature reserve create their own wildlife film, learning all the skills they need to tell a great story through their film.

Your residential programme could include:

  • Exploration of Folly woods to investigate the lives and habitats of minibeasts and mammals.
  • Pond dipping
  • Dissection of owl pellets (subject to availability)
  • Mammal trapping
  • Badger watching

Wildlife filmmaking day!

After checking the small mammal traps we will kit ourselves out with all the equipment we need to make our own wildlife films. We’ll look at what makes a good wildlife film and learn some of the tricks of the trade and then working in small groups to create a storyboard, before capturing our film footage. Working our way around the nature reserve we’ll film the wildlife and habitats we see, before editing the films and enjoying our very own film premier!

Beautiful, yet convenient location in Avon Wildlife Trust's 250-acre nature reserve, just 10 miles from Bristol and Bath. The reserve is bursting with bluebells in spring, rare wildflower meadows in summer and apple orchards in autumn. View directions here.
