Wildlife - or biodiversity - is
the variety of life, essential to a healthy planet.
The Trust works in many different ways
to protect Avon's wildlife for everyone to enjoy.
Vital
wildlife habitats are being restored and reconnected to
create a wildlife rich Living
Landscape.
Many of Avon’s
most important wildlife habitats and species are protected
on our Nature Reserves.
We champion and promote local distinctiveness
through working in partnership for delivery of the Avon
Biodiversity Action Plan.
Water voles, white-clawed crayfish and
freshwater habitats are just some of the topics researched
by the Trust's Freshwater
Projects.
New building developments
may threaten wildlife in our area and we monitor and respond
to major planning issues through our Planning
work.
We examine the best ways of incorporating
green spaces into new developments through the Green
Infrastructure Project.
We successfully deliver a
wide range of specialist ecological services through our
Environmental Consultancy.
We are helping to secure a healthy and
productive future for the coasts and seas of South West
England through the work of the Finding
Sanctuary Project and the development of a network
of Marine Protected Areas.
You can also explore the natural world around you through
a series of walks within the Avon area that offers you
Ways into Wildlife.
