Avon Wildlife Trust Volunteer Placements

Custom Join Block

Are you committed, passionate and keen to learn more? Would you like a career inspiring people to engage with nature? Do you want to gain experience within the environmental sector?

Avon Wildlife Trust offers volunteer placements positions from time to time. These aim to provide volunteers with work-based experience that can support career development, providing opportunities to take on more responsibility and learn new skills. Each placement is supported by a member of staff to encourage individual learning development and assist with targeted training opportunities.

Wildlife Gardening and Land Management Placement

Help us to manage and develop the demonstration borders and wildlife habitats at Avon Wildlife Trust’s community & learning hub to provide inspiration for others. Gain valuable experience in horticulture and practical habitat creation on this 6 acre site. Training will be provided but a willingness to learn and work as part of a team essential.
Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, 10-4pm, minimum 4 month commitment desired. For more information see the volunteer role description.

Wildflower Nursery Placement

Join the team at Avon Wildlife Trust’s wildflower nursery in Stapleton to gain experience in horticulture and learn about the growing needs of some of our native wildflowers. Training will be provided but a willingness to learn and work as part of a team essential.
Fridays 10-4pm, minimum 4 month commitment desired. For more information see the volunteer role description.

Forest Gardening Placement

Help care for the Forest Garden at Feed Bristol.  Over the winter months we will be making observations, surveying, soil testing, planning, weeding, mulching, sowing green manures, making crop protection structures, taking hardwood cuttings, pruning, making signs and compost tea equipment.  The sessions are informal, the work practical and hands on.

Wednesdays 10-4pm, minimum 4 month commitment desired.  Please email Diana via volunteer@avonwildlifetrust.org.uk for more information.
