Grow Leader Placements - Grow Wilder

Grow Leader Placements help us to run the site; facilitating volunteers and assisting the food growing and conservation activities throughout the season. This is a brilliant way of getting work experience whilst enriching and building on the learning from the Grow Leader Course. 

Dates for 2020
Application deadline: 31st January 
Interview date: 10th February
Placement start: Week beginning March 2nd
Placement end: Week ending 28th August

Please note that applications are open for the placement starting in March. Please apply with your CV and Covering Letter. We will be uploading an updated role description in early December for people to use to apply. 

If you have any questions about the next Grow Wilder Grow Placement intake or would like to register your interest, please email Volunteer@avonwildlifetrust.org.uk  

Applicants must be able to commit to 2 days on site a week for 6 months.  There is the opportunity to develop a 3 month specialist project at the end of the  placement whilst studying on the Grow Leader course.

Youth Forum Member

6 months to a year commitment preferred, four meetings a year, plus other opportunitiesLocation: Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and Bath (Avon)

Avon Wildlife Trust is passionate about providing opportunities for the next generation to shape the future of our work and provide a platform for you to make your voice heard.

If you are aged between 14 and 24, have a passion for wildlife and our environment this is the opportunity for you. You will meet with like-minded peers to develop projects and events to champion the new Environment Act, become advocates for your generation to take positive action for the future, develop and deliver your vision for a Wilder Avon and be part of the wider movement of Our Bright Future.

We will support this role with training, genuine connection with our Board of Trustees and Senior Management Team, and inspiring opportunities to make a real difference to your local environment.

To make this role as accessible as possible we will aim to hold meetings in Bath and Weston as well as in Bristol and provide transport costs to enable you to attend. We ask that you attend four meetings and we will offer volunteering, team building and additional training opportunities throughout the year.

Youth Forum Member role description

Our Bright Future Learning Team Volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer to support a group of young people to engage with conservation, wellbeing and learning opportunities at Grow Wilder. You will be assisting a young leader as they develop the skills to lead and plan some of the sessions after 6-week summer pilot. Our Bright Future volunteer role specification

Bathscape Practical Conservation Volunteers

Bathscape is a 5 year landscape partnership project which aims to restore and reconnect people with the countryside around Bath. As part of this we are running regular conservation workdays and need volunteers to assist with practical tasks. These will vary depending on the site and the time of year but could include, for example, tree planting, wildflower seed collection, scrub bashing and path works. 

Volunteers need no prior experience and no minimum commitment is required. All tools will be provided along with tea and coffee refreshments. Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for working outdoors and to bring a packed lunch.

Grow Wilder Volunteering Placements

My Wild City Activities and Events Volunteers

Become a My Wild Child volunteer

We are looking for volunteers for our My Wild Child toddler sessions which are run weekly at The Bommie, Knowle on Wednesdays, St Georges Park on Thursdays and Feed Bristol on Fridays. Volunteering sessions are in the morning between 9.45-11.30/12. If you are interested in joining any please get in touch to find out more.
